An index of 30 large companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

How it is used in the lessons
NIFTY 50 (NSE) and SENSEX (BSE) are indices that track large companies.
If the NIFTY 50 or SENSEX falls or rises sharply, trading stops across the whole market to let people pause and think.
Each exchange may offer a weekly expiry on only one benchmark index (NIFTY 50 on NSE, SENSEX on BSE).
